Team
The Emriver team is a bunch of smart, talented, and fun-loving folks from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about rivers, the outdoors, and science. We each have our specialties but we all do a little of everything every day, including learning new things and acquiring new skills. When we are not making the best stream tables in the world, we are artists, musicians, birders, runners, and swimmers.
The Emriver Team
Katherine Poulos is the owner of Emriver and has been leading the company since the death of her husband, Steve Gough, the scientist, designer, and visionary who founded Emriver and began it all. Katherine is deeply committed to carrying forward Steve’s legacy of hands-on science and fluvial geomorphology education. At Emriver, she supports the best team she has ever been a part of. Katherine enjoys connecting people, perfecting systems, and long reflective walks at the beach.
Jim has been with Emriver since 2017, arriving with a wide-ranging background in education, design, building and project management. At Emriver, he heads up product development and continuous improvement with our talented team. He loves working with customers exploring the science, beauty and power of flowing water. Jim enjoys long fartleks at the beach.
Steve grew up in Carbondale, Illinois, exploring the hills and streams of the Shawnee National Forest. He studied Math and Ceramics in college and was a professor of ceramic art for 15 years. At Emriver, Steve builds models, updates manuals, designs fliers and banners, and maintains the coffee maker. Steve enjoys long shore drift at the beach.
Lily studied Biology and Chemistry in college and was a Plant Biologist Researcher before joining the Emriver team. At Emriver, she answers phone calls, processes quotes and orders, coordinates shipping, and assists the production staff. Lily enjoys long swims at the beach.
Andrew has a background working with Lighting and Sound Design for theater, concerts, and art installations and received his MFA in Sound Art at SIUC. At Emriver he does a little bit of everything, including the design and manufacturing of our electronics. Andrew enjoys long reading sessions on the beach.
Amy received her Associates from John A. Logan and received a certificate from SIUC. Amy has a background working in an office and performing various accounting duties. At Emriver she does the bookkeeping, media posts, and aspires to become an Odoo expert soon. Amy enjoys nature, vacationing with her mom and sister, spending time with her animals, and looking for creepy crawlies…especially at the beach.
